Encrypted communication platform for doctors and medical institutions

About the client

An e-health startup in Spain. It builds AI tools for the medical community and gives doctors access to medical information from any country.

Objective

Healthcare institutions hold large volumes of unstructured data. Doctors, patients and medical students had no secure place to exchange it. Professionals mixed personal and work messages in the same apps. The client wanted an encrypted platform that keeps both apart and complies with GDPR and HIPAA.

What we built

The product is an encrypted communication platform with two environments. A global community is open to every registered member. Private channels keep the internal communication of licensed medical institutions closed. Four web developers and one mobile developer worked on it for more than two years. We led the development for most of that time.

Communication and identity

• Built the global community and the private channels on an encrypted messaging layer.
• Added a digital card that identifies each registered doctor and replaces the physical one.
• Stored CVs, diplomas and certificates in the card.
• Opened a direct channel between doctors and the administration for health alerts and surveys.

Tools for doctors

• Built more than 200 medical calculators.
• Added a pharmacological guide with drugs, active ingredients and laboratories.
• Added 3D anatomy software and the Dicciomed medical dictionary.
• Added a news feed on medicine, science and technology.

Search engine

• Built an AI search engine that reads scientific texts, extracts concepts and draws inferences.
• Fed it with millions of medical resources: news, drug references, research articles and clinical guides.
• Gave doctors direct answers on specific or rare conditions.

Result

The platform is in production. It has more than 200 medical calculators (client data). It complies with GDPR and HIPAA. It runs on three platforms: web, desktop and mobile apps for iOS and Android. With us leading the development, the client focused on market expansion. It started working with a leading global pharmaceutical company. Today several medical universities and pharmaceutical companies use the platform for internal communication, each with its own customisation (client data).
