Stablecoin wallet app for payments in emerging markets

About the client

The client is a startup in Germany. It builds decentralised payment products for people in countries with high inflation.

Objective

The client wanted a first version of a mobile wallet for digital dollars. Its users live in emerging markets, where inflation eats their savings. Many of them have no bank account abroad, so they cannot hold dollars in the usual way. The client needed a working MVP in six months.

What we built

The product is a single-coin wallet for DAI and USDC on the Polygon network. A user in an emerging market keeps digital dollars in it and pays without gas fees. One architect, two React Native developers and one JavaScript backend developer built the MVP in 6 months.

Account and wallet

• Built the sign-up flow. The user confirms the email address and saves a mnemonic phrase that restores the wallet.
• Built the plan selection. Each plan has its own number of monthly transactions, its limits and its commission.
• Built the top-up with a debit or credit card.
• Integrated third-party smart contracts and the Alchemy service for access to the Polygon network.

Payments and remittances

• Built the list of partner businesses. The user pays for their goods and services from the app.
• Built online payments and remittances between contacts, sent and received.
• Built the transaction history.
• Set up Firebase and push notifications.
• Built the CI/CD pipeline on MS App Center.

Result

The wallet is in beta (client data). The team delivered the base interface and the core functions of the MVP in 6 months (client data). Payments on the network are gasless for the user (client data).
